Uttarakhand is a state in North Indian region of Himalayas and is popular because some of the most beautiful creation of nature like magnanimous Himalayas, the holiest of the rivers, lush green forests, the religious sites and stunning landscapes can be experienced only in this region. Tourists from all over the world and India frequently travel to Uttrakhand to spend holidays. Joy Travels offers Uttarakhand tour packages that covers some of the most popular and beautiful destinations of Uttarakhand.

Uttarakhand was carved out of the hilly areas of Uttar Pradesh, and the tourism slogan of `Devbhumi’ is justified, as here you find the sacred Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath, Rishikesh, Haridwar…..but you can also trek in the stunning high-altitude meadows of the Garhwal region, ski at Auli, go rafting on the Ganga, visit old favourites Mussoorie and Nainital or discover sublime Kumaon through its innovative resorts. Welcome on board this Uttarakhand Holiday Package, in a summary, on a choice of various locations, which may be selected as per the duration of your vacation! Tourist Attractions: The journey starts with Dehra Dun which is recognized as a quiet, small valley-town, famous for its basmati rice, lychees, new shopping centres, hospitals and café outlets, and its old-styled bungalows. Today, it is a bustling town with a botanical garden and a remarkable Greco-Roman colonial building housing six museums, on social forestry, pathology, silviculture, timber, non-wood forest products and entomology. It takes pride in being lined up with the cross-section of a seven century old deodar tree. The cantonment area has a Military Museum and is a serene option for quiet green walks. The sulphur spring at Sahastradhara has therapeutic qualities while the river and caves are smoothly fluous but crowded. The Robber’s Cave also called Guchhu Pani, is a nice picnic spot as there is a little rivulet which disappears underground and reappears a little distance away. Lacchiwalla with its streams and stands of deodars is a popular outdoor getaway for school picnics and family outings. The Tapkeshwar shrine which is a naturally formed Shivaling in a cave, rests on the banks of the Tons river. For the Sikh pilgrims there is the Guru Ram Rai Gurudwara, and in contrast the adventurous Malsi Deer Park is set amidst the green environs and its grounds, where rabbits, birds and deer make for a fun family outing, especially for kids. The Tibetan Buddhist Centre as the Mindrolling Monastery houses one of the world’s largest stupas with a fine painting of the Maitreya Buddha and murals within several shrines also showcasing Tibetan religious art and architecture. Mussoorie, has always been acclaimed as the 'Queen of the Hills' with its autumnal confection of mist in the lap of steep curvy views and delicious pine branches breezing through crisp air, as you listen out for the morning birds in Landour. Away from the Mall areas, amidst a wealth of birdlife, flora and fauna and a pleasant getaway for walkers, across the Kulri Bazaar which is the hub of all commercial, social and tourist activity, make an effort to visit the Gun Hill via the cable car, the Christ Church, Camel’s Back Road with a natural outcrop of rocks shaped like a camel’s hump, the Tibetan Buddhist Temple called the Shedup Choepelling Temple, Jharipani Falls, Char Dukaan, Sisters Bazaar and Lal Tibba. The Kempty Falls, a perennial waterfall, has a walkway which is crowded with stalls and photographers, and a convenient ropeway to ferry you back and forth through little rocky dells cooled by water gushing through boulders. This hill station is the base for a number of day hikes to Pari Tibba, the Benog Wildlife Sanctuary, into the Bhadraj Forest and a longer trek to Nag Tibba. Around Mussoorie, there is Dhanaulti, location of the Surkhanda Devi Shrine, Kanatal which contains the lush Kodiya and Batwaldhar forests and, Chamba, a small town with ample stretches of mist, cloud and woods to escape. The little known town of Kalsi slumbers on the banks of the writhing Yamuna and is a hideaway for those looking for folds of emerald hills, as the river gurgles its way into the panoramic horizon and graceful trees. Pine-scented air and a river meandering across the valley as you give company to the Tons River winds its way on to the plains or entices you to go rafting on it, or swim in a deep pool formed by a laughing creek or bike down a boulevard of yellow mimosas, or go birdwatching. Chakrata is a town with a magnificent view of the Himalayas, and everything around is delightfully green, as deodar, Himalayan oak and rhododendron covers the hills. Uttarkashi is a town with a strong history and located in the breathtaking vista of a valley engulfed by mountains with its forests of oak, rhododendron and pine dotted with green squares of cultivation. For the millions of Hindus who revere the Ganga and flock to it to be rejuvenated by its waters, going to Haridwar is like fulfilling a life’s ambition, with its fabulous temples and wish-fulfilling `aarti’. The Rajaji National Park in the foothills of the Shivalik Range covered by sal forests is famous for its wild elephant population, especially adrenaline-inducing male tuskers. At the chilla gate, there are elephants to take you on a safari. Rishikesh has been an abode of ascetics and is also called the `yoga capital of the world’ and the `Lakshman Jhula’, `Trimbakeshwar Mandir’ and `Ganga Aarti’ are all spiritual blessings from God whereby the tourists are able to fulfill their religious aspirations at these holy spots, in this abode of ascetics. The Rishikesh region is famed for offering white water rafting in Kaudilya and Shivpuri. All the necessary rafting equipment, meals, some games like volleyball or water polo and bonfires are part of the package. Coming to Uttarakhand, would also entail a discovery of the popular Wellness Capital of the World, the Ananda in the Himalayas, beautifully settled on a mountain ridge with its extensive range of spa therapies based on Ayurvedic treatments, to Thai and Swedish massages, hydrotherapy facilities, a beauty institute, an outdoor swimming pool, saunas, steam rooms, a gymnasium and even a 7-hole golf course. The Sivananda Kutir in Uttarkashi along with the Sivananda School of Yoga imbibes teachings based on the five precepts of exercise, breathing, relaxation, diet, positive thinking and meditation. The Vipassana Sadhna Kendra in Dehra Dun which is located in the heart of a rivulet for which you either wade across the stream if the water level permits, or do the crossing in a trolley running on a rope. The Patanjali Yogpeeth, Haridwar, is another centre for Ayurvedic formulations, yoga asanas and Pranayam along with dietary advice to the patients. Lansdowne is the quietest hill station in India, with it Bhulla Lake, Tiffin Top and Snow View Point, the Darwan Singh Sangrahalaya and Shiv Kaleshwar Mandir, introducing the tourists to walk up the hill and providing magnificent serenity and silent forests. To turn impossible into possible is the Uttarakhand Holiday Package! The famous Char Dham Yatra entails a religious journey to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath moving through the Himalayas and skidding through the confluence of rivers, participating in the glorius `aartis’ and collecting `gangajal’. In Harsil, you can experience the Himalayan range in all its glory with rivers, waterfalls, hot springs, forests, peaks, green meadows and icy glaciers, a picture-perfect valley, with white sandy beaches, surrounded by orchards, pine forests and snowy mountains. Auli is a ski resort, where the air is cold, fresh, and scented with pine and the skies are azure blue. It is also lined by some shrines and temples. The Valley of Flowers bursts upon you as a radiant canvas, as flowers plummet down from rocks, proliferate over every inch of space, devouring every morsel of soil and drinking in every trace of sunlight. Most people take on a trek to visit the stupendous high-altitude Lake Lokpal or Hemkund Sahib, the important pilgrimage of the Sikhs. The trekking areas in Garhwal include the Lohajang-Wan-Bedni-Ali-Bedni-Lohajang covering mystical and symbolic surroundings as when the sun sets to the west, the vast wall of snow and granite turns gold against a darkening sky, embracing wide stone-paved paths, threading through the valley floor, fringed by shrubs and deciduous forests, and the Chopta-Tungnath-Chandrashila Peak-Chopta trek engulfing a delightful walk through a forest of conifers and rhododendrons, ferns and lichens, swarming through rocky hills covered with forget-me-nots, buttercups, anemones and wild strawberries. The hill station of Nainital swoons over a turquoise lake, old houses, rich bounty of flowers, quaint pine trails, magical lights and stars doing a giddy dance on the waters of the lake, enduring a pleasurable walk in the crisp autumn or spring sun! The Lake District of Naukuchiatal, Sattal, Bhimtal teem with greenery, bird life and moments of silence, with the right mix of tourist infrastructure and possibilities of solitude, offering plenty of adventurous options such as rock climbing, rappelling, river crossing, kayaking, bird watching and mountain biking in organized campsites with campfires and barbeques in the chilly outdoors. Mukteshwar remains a perfectly beautiful and quiet hill getaway and is sure to win you with the fantabulous views of the snow-laden peaks of the Garhwal, Kumaon and Nepal Himalaya. Ramgarh is another horticultural haven with fruit-laden orchards, thickly forested hillsides and babbling brooks, showcasing stylish cottages to host the tourists. Ranikhet, another hill station, is famed for giving nature precedence with monkeys swinging through the trees and deer hiding in its groves, offering the best method of walking along its lanes or hiking through its forest as you may just spot the Great Himalayan whistling thrush, scarlet minivet, Himalayan tree pie, red-billed long tailed blue magpie, flying squirrel, a troupe of monkeys, or a barking deer. Almora, the second largest town of Kumaon, is important because of the excursions possible to scenic retreats and pilgrimage centres such as Binsar, Jageshwar or Kausani. The Binsar Wildlife Sanctuary is a heavily forested hill terrain clad with oaks and species of resident and migratory birds. The sacred hill town of Jageshwara has a small complex holding an incredible rich heritage and bursting with holy shrines and innumerable Shiva temples.Flanked by the rivers Kosi and Gomti, Kausani is bewitchingly photogenic, enticing everyone With its scores and scores of wild flowers and ferns sprawling over this region steeped in folklore, wrapped with some Ashrams and a Tea Estate and Factory. Pithoragarh is situated in the third largest town of Kumaon, called Kali Kumaon, being an important base for the Indian army, though you can hike around the lush mountains here and move along the pretty villages and citrus orchards. Munsiyari sits in the middle aisle of a grand Himalayan amphitheatre and the largest town of the Johar Valley. It manages to woo you with the high mountain peaks, making you feel as though you are perched at the edge of the horizon! Nestling in the foothills of the Himalayas is the Corbett National Park, a wildlife sanctuary, blending an exact combination of intoxicating hills and woods covering an expanse from chir and pine forests to sal and sheesham trees, the ubiquitous lantana bush and grassy pastures known as chaurs, the ideal grazing land for wild elephants, thus enabling you to spot deer, elephants, crocodiles, wild boars and also a tiger, on a jeep safari and in a safer outfit offering horse safaris or elephant rides, through the entire range of wildlife tracking! As you end the chapter of sites in Uttarakhand, you would define Kumaon as a place where nature is the queen, Nainital and Almora districts are rich in lakes, forests, bird, and flowers, Himalayan views and the existence of a gentle pace of life that has encouraged several hospitable souls to open up retreats and homestays to facilitate tourism! What an exciting Uttarakhand Holiday Package! Shopping: Popular purchases in the religious centres here en-route would be artificial jewellery for idols, brass and copper puja utensils, glass bangles, wooden walking sticks and stoneware, and cans to carry Gangajal are available all over. There are lots of sweet shops and pedas , bottles of churan and aam papad , to be carried as takeaways! The religious places offer excellent North and South Indian cuisine, chaat, kachoris, besides rasmalais, Gujrati thalis and barfis. Shopping in the hill stations and adjacent resorts, would perhaps entail picking up some souvenirs and confectionery, jam and honey, cakes and patisserie The Shops have quite a few curios stores with a blend of modern market stuff as well as cameras, sweaters, shawls, clothing and essentials to fulfill tourist needs. Cuisine: Most of the specialty restaurants and street side stalls serve a variety of food, including Indian, Continental, Oriental, South Indian, Tibetan and fast food fare such as hot masala Maggi, pancakes with maple syrup, pastries, rolls, brownies and snacks. In some of the resorts, if you want a preparation of your desire, the staff would customize the same for you or else you are welcome to enter the kitchen, in case you want to cook yourself! Climate: Uttarakhand hugs a very cold climate during winters with a cool, pleasant air and sunshine during the summer months. The monsoons contain heavy rainfalls, and except for those places and resorts which are closed during the monsoons or winters, the region is recommended for a visit throughout the year as there is enough to keep you occupied indoors and outdoors, even for a short blissful escapade, on the Uttarakhand Holiday Package!
